To ensure the longevity and performance of your knife, there are a few simple steps you can take:

Wash it by hand with a non-abrasive sponge and mild soap. Avoid the dishwasher, which can damage both the blade and the handle.
Dry it thoroughly after each use, then store it in a dry, moisture-free place.
Protect the sharpness by avoiding hard surfaces like glass, metal, ceramic, or bamboo, which can dull the blade.
Before long-term storage, apply a little mineral oil or camellia oil to the blade and handle using a soft cloth.
These few precautions will not only preserve the sharpness, but also the aesthetics and durability of your knife.
Detail by material
CARBON STEEL (iron, carbon, etc.) tends to oxidize. The surface of the blade changes with its environment, which manifests itself by a grayish patina that will protect it over time. After each use, a change in color will be observed. Carbon steel has the advantage of sharpening very easily and having excellent wear resistance. Maintenance of this steel is more considerable than that of stainless steel. Indeed, after using it, it is useful to clean the blade well, dry it and store it away from moisture. In case of less frequent use, it is advisable to apply cooking oil to the blade (olive oil, camellia oil for example) before storing the knife in a dry place.
STAINLESS STEEL (iron, carbon, chrome, etc.) has the property of being relatively resistant to corrosion. However, prolonged exposure to elements such as water and salt is not recommended. Of course, due to its composition, it requires less rigorous maintenance than carbon steel. After use, it is recommended to wash and dry the blade before storing the knife.
NATURAL WOOD is a living material. It may expand and change its appearance over time. To reduce this, avoid prolonged contact with water. You should also oil the handle from time to time with linseed oil or Danish oil, for example. This will prevent cracks and increase its resistance to changes in temperature and humidity.
STABILIZED WOOD has been impregnated with synthetic resin. This significantly strengthens the wood without changing its aesthetic appearance and increases its density and therefore its resistance to external elements such as temperature fluctuations and humidity. In addition, stabilized wood species require only a small amount of oil compared to unstabilized wood species.
MICARTA is made of paper, fabric (linen, cotton, paper, etc.) impregnated with resin and pressure treated. It is a very resistant material and not very sensitive to external elements such as water, cold, heat and corrosion.
KYDEX is a rigid, thermoformable plastic that can be washed in plenty of water. It is also rot-proof. It is important to note that Kydex can scratch the finish of your knife. We make every effort to reduce this effect, but it is still possible that blade/sheath friction may cause scratches on the knife.
